Lord Anthony Cahn’s allusive paintings are also a representation of the passage of time. In response to a certain dehumanized modernity, his works are the expression of a constantly changing contemporary society.
Using nature as his inspiration and main material, he gives life here and there to debris and posters. He plays with the back of the latter, which he glues and superimposes, multiplying the layers and tears. The notions of erosion and natural cycle come back as a leitmotiv.
The artist is inspired by the ready-made, placing authenticity at the heart of his work. He reinterprets urban and rural landscapes which impregnate him since his youth. Transforming the existing to sublimate it, his murals are an impressionist manifesto of what surrounds him.
